A Tree Grows In Brooklyn

Serene was a word you could put to Brooklyn, New York. Especially in the summer of 1912.

This is the first sentence in Betty Smith's 1943 novel and these words came to mind as I was spending a beautiful Saturday in August documenting Oona and Elliot's wedding.

I love Brooklyn. I mean, I love New York City but Brooklyn is my home so it holds a special place. Brooklyn is also home to Elliot and Oona (as well as 2.5 million other people) so it was only natural that they would hold their wedding in their borough.



After a quick lunch at Oona's parents place in the historical Brooklyn Heights they impromptu decided to practice their first dance in the living room.


On the way to BAM Oona dropped by her bridal store for a last minute dress adjustment at Michelle New York on Atlantic Avenue. Michelle Field may be one of the sweetest and most talented designers. She was more than willing to help out in the last minute and even offered a ride over to BAM. A true Brooklyn moment!
